Star Studded! Who Wore What at the 2023 Oscars?
Sunday evening was the 95th annual Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences awards ceremony, the Oscars, where we saw some of the most beautiful jewels being worn by celebrities as they walked the “red” (champagne color this year) carpet, watched with anticipation inside the Dolby Theatre, gave introductions, gave performances, and accepted awards.
There have been a dozen or more journal coverages of the jewels worn at the 2023 Oscars, but one of the best journal coverages of the Oscar jewelry comes from Canada, from Laura Lee Fulham’s “Who Wore What Jewels.”
“Who Wore What Jewels” has been focused for several years, covering not only the Oscars, but also many major red carpet and star studded events, and giving us a close look at the jewels images, along side the celebrity image wearing the jewels. Jewel descriptions are detailed including gemstone and names of designers and suppliers.
There were colored gemstones and diamonds, modern designs, period pieces, necklaces, brooches, earrings, bracelets, stick pins, and hair ornaments. Bvlgari, Chopard, Tiffany, Mikimoto, Fred Leighton, David Webb ….
Part of the enjoyment of these events is to see not just what was being worn, but how they were being worn, with a necklace worn as a hair ornament, a brooch worn on a waistband, and men wearing jeweled lapel pins. As with all fashion shows such as this, there were questionable jewelry choices, but this just gives us all the opportunity to become living-room armchair stylists. That said, there were some definite winners.
And the Oscar goes to … “WhoWoreWhatJewels.com.”
