FREE – GIA Offers New Short Video: The Major Differences between Natural and Laboratory-Grown Diamonds

As many in the diamond industry are taking up battle positions amongst themselves between natural mined diamonds and synthetic/created diamonds, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is going directly to the consumer (via the retailer) and has just released a new short video, designed for consumers who are trying to gather more basic and unbiased information.

Titled: “Natural and Laboratory-Grown Diamonds: What are the Differences?” GIA is offering this video for free to anyone who wishes to place it in their website. Certainly geared towards the retail sales staff and their clients, this intro video (emphasis on “intro”) spells out the differences between the two diamonds in simple text and graphics, easy to understand and straight to the point, with no judgement call.

“It covers everything from how they are formed to how to distinguish between them,” says GIA.

Well, no, it does not cover how to distinguish between the two. But it does say that the lab can tell the difference.

“You can add this short video to your website or play it in-store to help inform customers and build confidence in their purchases.”

The HTML code for the video seen here can be downloaded, using the link below.

At the end of the video, the website address GIA.edu/journey leads you to GIA’s easy to understand – sales staff and consumer focused discussion – of laboratory-grown diamonds. From the history of technology necessary to create diamond, to the present day manufacture and detection, the consumer will find the answers to most of their questions.
