Phillips Auction in Geneva: The Geneva Jewels Auction: TWO

Taking place on May 13, 2024, the Phillips Geneva Jewels Auction TWO will be held at the Hotel President, Quai Wilson 47, Geneva, Switzerland (map)

On sale for this auction are many beautiful gems and jewels (several noted below), but featuring a couple of fancy color diamonds – the Fancy Vivid Pink, the Fancy Vivid Yellow, and the Argyle Phoenix, a Fancy Red!

Exceptional Fancy Vivid Pink diamond ring

Set with an oval fancy vivid pink diamond of outstanding colour weighing 6.21 carats, between two kite-shaped diamonds. The kite-shaped diamonds weighing a total of 1.21 carats; in our expert’s opinion, F colour, VVS clarity.

Accompanied by GIA report no. 2225767179, stating that the diamond is Fancy Vivid Pink, Natural Colour, VS1 Clarity, Excellent Polish and Symmetry; together with a Type IIa classification letter and a GIA Portrait.

‘The Amazon Queen’, Impressive emerald pendant

Set with an octagonal step-cut emerald weighing 280.84 carats, measuring approximately 40 x 35mm.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 129808 and Gübelin report no. 23041003, each stating that the emerald is of Colombian origin, with a minor amount of oil in fissures; each with an appendix letter and a monograph. Together with an additional gemmological report.

‘The Argyle Phoenix,’ Very rare and mesmerizing Fancy Red diamond ring

In GIA terminology, there are no saturation descriptors like intense or vivid since it is assumed that the “Fancy Red” hue is as saturated as it gets.

Set with a brilliant-cut fancy red diamond weighing 1.56 carats, size 52.

Accompanied by GIA report no. 5151433979, stating that the diamond is Fancy Red, Natural Colour; together with a GIA monograph.

Fancy Intense Green diamond, diamond and pink sapphire ring

This is a classic setting, surrounding the green with pinks. 1. it’s a nice complimentary color to the green, and 2. it makes the green pop a little more.
Using pink sapphires instead of pink diamonds keeps the ring affordable. (Well, affordable for those who can afford to buy a fancy intense green diamond!)

Set with a cut-cornered rectangular fancy intense green diamond weighing 2.26 carats, within a frame of circular-cut pink sapphires, the shoulders embellished with brilliant-cut diamonds, size 52.

Sapphire and diamond necklace – a mix of heat and no heat Sri Lankan sapphires

Set with oval and cushion-shaped sapphires weighing 4.28, 4.98, 4.35, 5.30, 4.85, 4.11 and 4.76 carats respectively, highlighted with marquise-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds, length approximately 390mm, signed Harry Winston, numbered, maker’s mark for Jacques Timey.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 133627, stating that the sapphire weighing 5.30 carats is of Ceylon origin, with no indications of heating; together with SSEF report no. 133625, no. 133626, no. 133627, no. 133620, no. 133630 and no. 133631, each stating that the sapphires weighing 4.28 carats, 4.98 carats, 4.35 carats, 4.85 carats, 4.11 carats and 4.76 carats respectively are of Ceylon origin, with indications of heating.

Ruby and diamond brooch

Look at the craftsmanship in cutting all of the rubies to fit the mounting! That’s Oscar Heyman!

Modelled as a pansy, set with an oval ruby weighing 3.17 carats, highlighted with calibré-cut rubies and brilliant-cut diamonds, measuring approximately 35 x 30mm, unsigned, numbered.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 137195, stating that the ruby is of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating.

Pair of sapphire and diamond earrings

A marvelous design, using emerald cuts, then the fancy yellow rounds, followed by the trapezoids, and then the sapphire cushions. Sweet!

Each set with a cushion-shaped sapphire, highlighted with tapered baguette and step-cut diamonds, and brilliant-cut diamonds of yellow tint, post and hinged-back fittings, length approximately 30mm, signed Friedrich.

Ruby, diamond and enamel parure, second half of the 19th century

Definitely a piece for the times (late 1800s). But interesting enough that we wanted to include it here.

Comprising: a necklace of garland design, applied with black enamel, the floral motifs embellished with circular-cut and cushion-shaped rubies and diamonds, length approximately 415mm, two small rubies and three small diamonds deficient, a pair of ear clips, length approximately 80mm, a brooch, measuring approximately 114 x 75mm, one small diamond deficient, and a hair ornament, length approximately 260mm, each with partial French maker’s mark and assay marks for gold, fitted case stamped Vve Grognier-Arnaud.

Of foliate design, set with a carved chalcedony leaf, the articulated gold branches embellished with four button-shaped natural pearls measuring from 6.98-7.28 x 6.27mm to 8.62-8.70 x 8.19mm, and cultured pearls, measuring approximately 140 x 90mm, French maker’s mark for Groené et Darde and assay mark for gold.
