This brooch was previously owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post who ordered the jewel from Cartier Paris. It’s original design from 1914 was later elongated in the early 1920s with a modification to the stylization of the upper vines. A photograph circa 1921 shows Post wearing the brooch as a hat pin.
