Seeing the beauty of the world, preserving it, and above all, enriching it, are values that have continuously influenced the Maison’s philosophy. The latest Beautés du Monde (Beauties of the World) High Jewellery collection continues this tradition. It is a testament to this fascination with the diversity of beauty that is so dear to Cartier.

THE APATURA NECKLACE

Take a close look at a butterfly wing, let yourself be dazzled by the beauty of its shades, and imagine an embellishment that would reflect its iridescent beauty. This necklace was born from the observation of the infinitely small. Here, it is not a question of reproducing in a figurative way, but of suggesting through an abstract composition, a display of shimmering colors that evoke the idea of the most delicate insect.

THE OBI NECKLACE

Drawing inspiration from Japanese fabrics decorated with the rising sun motif, the Obi necklace pays tribute to the culture of Japan, an inspiring country cherished by the Maison for more than a century. Eight cabochon-cut emeralds, including a 12.53-carat specimen from Zambia, provide the starting point in the creation process. The roundness of the cabochons contrasts with the motif’s geometry, which is punctuated by small caliber-cut rubies. Thanks to the very delicate custom-cut onyx inserts, the angles are emphasized, the volumes are accentuated, and the entire necklace gains depth.

Green, red, and black: a signature chromatic harmony for Cartier, which since the beginning of the 20th century has dared to create unprecedented—and immediately adopted— combinations. The pendant motif detaches and can be worn as a brooch.

THE RYU NECKLACE

Dragon scales inspire Cartier with their structure, material and pattern. For this necklace, 80 yellow diamonds weighing approximately 79 carats constitute the scales of this fantastic reptile that marks the link between the Earth and the sky. Thanks to octahedral gems, whose rare cut is seldom used in jewelry, the faceting work multiplies and sets the sparkle between the stones ablaze. These intense, solar diamonds are placed in the heart of hexagonal patterns of white gold paved with diamonds, which together form a geometric mesh. They illustrate Cartier’s passion for stones of character with singular shapes.

THE SPLENDENS NECKLACE

With this creation, Cartier introduces an interpretation of the fighting fish into its bestiary. To represent the floating fins, the jewelers imagined a cascade of spinel beads, with a beautiful chromatic harmony in increasing size. Placed in the center of an invisible cap, each bead is held by a tiny nail whose surface plays with the light, like water on the scales of a fish. This flexible ensemble is edged with nine oval and pear-shaped spinels totaling 27.79 carats. Its entirety is studded with square or lozenge diamonds.

THE WATER ASPIS NECKLACE

It is one of the most mythical creatures in the Cartier menagerie, where it instils its voluptuous charm. A powerful and hypnotic snake whose beauty and incredible flexibility Cartier enhances through this new interpretation. It is water that inspires the jeweller’s choice of blue and white, the colours of sea foam and the sea bed where this oceanic reptile resides.
