AGA’s 2025 Tucson Conference and Gala: Six Gemological Presentations, and the AGA Antonio C. Bonanno Award Presentation!
The Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA) is pleased to announce that its annual
Tucson Gemological Conference and Gala will take place on Wednesday, February 5,
2025, in Tucson, Arizona. This full-day event culminates in an evening of celebration,
with dinner, dancing, and networking. AGA invites the global gemological community to
participate in this important event.

Conference Speakers and Presentations
The 2025 conference will feature six timely sessions led by renowned experts in the
field, covering a wide range of gemological topics and the latest research. Keynote
speakers include:
💎 Emmanuel Fritsch, Ph.D. (Professor of Physics, Nantes Université and CNRS),
presenting on the use of alternative luminescence in gemology.
💎 Sharrie Woodring, GIA GG, FGA (Senior Gemologist, GCAL by Sarine),
exploring the role of AI in diamond grading, fluorescence analysis, and
traceability.
💎 Jean-Pierre Jutras, B.Sc. Honors Geology (President/Director, Jade Leader
Corp), sharing insights from his decades-long study of Nephrite Jade.
💎 Hanco Zwaan, Ph.D., FGA (Head, Netherlands Gem Laboratory; Researcher,
Naturalis Biodiversity Center), discussing rare and unusual gems encountered in
laboratory settings.
💎 Brecken Branstrator, GIA GG (Editor-in-Chief, GemGuide), recounting her
experiences traveling to the sources as a gemologist and journalist.
💎 Michael S. Krzemnicki, Ph.D., (Director of Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF),
and 2024 AGA Bonanno Award recipient, will introduce attendees to radiometric
dating of gemstones, providing fascinating insights into their formation millions of
years ago.

AGA Antonio C. Bonanno Award for Excellence in Gemology
Following the conference, join fellow gemological professionals for an evening of
cocktails, networking, dinner, and dancing at the AGA Gala as we celebrate 25
years of the AGA Antonio C. Bonanno Award for Excellence in Gemology, with
the presentation of the 2024 award to Dr. Michael S. Krzemnicki.
