Who Wore What at the Met Gala? The Men Rocked the Jewels!

Lauralee of WhoWoreWhatJewels.com (WWWJ) has terrific coverage of the red carpet, and here is her Met Gala take, focused on the men, and they looked great!

“It’s about the men, and their show-stopping jewelry game,” says Lauralee. “Did the men possibly outshine the women?” she asks. “Yes! … and when it came to the men, they didn’t hold back in embracing the bling.”

Right she is, as we can see the guys (below) wearing three, four, five pieces, and more! No holds barred, they were all in!

Pointing out the “standout jewelry trends,” Lauralee bids “farewell to the era of the boring bow tie. It’s officially a thing of the past!” Case in point, a magnificent Georgian foil-backed amethyst Rivière necklace from Fred Leighton worn by Kieran Culkin, and Ed Sheeran’s diamond-edged [untied] bow tie, leading the charge.” And speaking of a Rivière necklace, check out Taika Waititi wearing $6M of diamonds (instead of a bow tie!), a Diamond Rivière necklace from Jacob & Co., with a total weight of 161.52 carats!

She also noticed all the brooches – kinda hard to miss. “No longer confined to lapels, they’re making themselves at home on waistbands!”

Going all in for Texas – Lapels embellished with Texas bluebonnets by Willy Chavarria

WWWJ – Leon Bridges didn’t just dip his toes into the jewelry game; he dove in headfirst, bringing maximalism back with a bang! With not one, not two, but three stunning brooches— including a Ruser diamond and sapphire pin, a floral masterpiece featuring a central cabochon ruby, and an antique emerald pearl and enamel brooch—Leon truly piled on the jewels, and we loved it! And as if that wasn’t enough, he didn’t forget about the wrists, each adorned with a Van Cleef & Arpels emerald and diamond bracelet alongside an Art Deco sapphire and diamond one, all from Joseph Saidian & Sons.

No bow tie – and what is with that lapel?

WWWJ – Omar Apollo: As the singer sauntered onto the red carpet, he did so in style, clad in a sleek black suit designed by none other than Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson. But let’s talk about that lapel—wide, bedazzled with crystal flowers, it was like a garden in full bloom, adding a dash of whimsy to his ensemble. And as if that wasn’t enough sparkle, Omar couldn’t resist adding a touch of bling with his $39,000 Talisman cocktail ring from De Beers, because why not make a statement while you’re at it?

Jeff Goldblum didn’t get the memo on bow ties, but he did for wearing numerous brooches!

Jumping on the three-pin brooch trend with flair was Jeff Goldblum. He adorned his lapel with Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany designs, including their iconic ‘Bird On A Rock’ featuring an unmissable 52-carat green beryl. Adding to the ensemble was a Vrille brooch with 20 round purple sapphires and 137 round brilliant diamonds, alongside a ‘Ribbons Drop’ pin adorned with diamonds and a central natural saltwater cream pearl weighing over 16 carats. Goldblum sure knows how to pin down a look with style!

Can there be a bigger brooch?

WWWJ – Adrien Brody had heads turning with his Elsa Jin brooch and it isn’t the first time wearing the jewelry designer’s epic creations.
