41 of the country’s best goldsmiths and jewelry designers will enter Tage Andersen’s poetic and wondrous universe. Each of them present a pair of earrings – the vast majority of which are unique, created especially for the exhibition.
Each piece of jewelry is based on a flower, plant or fruit, whose very diverse appearance and cultural history have inspired the goldsmiths and jewelry designers.
“Finally, not too flashy – but preferably unforgettable” – Tage Andersen
Why “Florilegium Ornamentum”
The order of the exhibition is based on the Renaissance florilegium. Flower books known as florilegium served 500 years ago as illustrations of plants that were cultivated for their decorative properties, and not so much for their practical uses in, for example, medicine, gastronomy or perfume. A florilegium has the beauty of plants as its focal point, and it is arranged according to the time of year when the plants emerge.
Ornamentum?
Ornamentum means jewelry in Latin.
And together, Florilegium Ornamentum is a collection of beautiful floral jewelry.
“Flowers and earrings carry us through life,
from spring to winter – and we wear them.
It feels right to start spring 2025 by paying tribute to one of the motifs
that most goldsmiths and jewelry designers find inspiration in
– namely, flowers.
The richness of flora’s forms provides diversity, and the exhibition’s participants have risen to the challenges with flying colours.”
– Nina Hald, exhibition organizer and curator.
RGNR – There are a several notables in this small selection of exhibit pieces seen below: 1. the use of color, using green, pink, and yellow diamonds, 2. the use of antique watch crystals to hold pressed flowers, and 3. and the use of ornamental gems, such as pink opal, amber, and chrysoprase. – gr
