Helen Mirren, who stopped everyone in their tracks with a spectacular Margot McKinney necklace!

The 2025 Cannes Film Festival gave us plenty to talk about—on screen and on the red carpet. And when it came to jewelry, there was no shortage of standout moments. The power of stacking singularly powerful statement necklaces were the story early on, with Joan Smalls layering three Pasquale Bruni pieces with rubies, rubellites, and diamonds, Isabelle Huppert choosing to stack two De Beers High Jewelry diamond necklaces, including a graphic black-and-white De Beers collar, and Araya Hargate going all in with two dramatic Boucheron necklaces (not stacked, but worn separately… one on the red carpet – diamonds and gold – and one later that night – the Once in a Blue Moon Question Mark necklace from the Carte Blanche, set with a 5-carat tanzanite, accompanied by a matching ring with a 27-carat tanzanite, of course).

Earrings and brooches took over in the middle of the week—Dakota Johnson may have worn the earrings of the festival, 1. because she had three outfit changes, so you had a greater chance of wearing the right look, and 2. because with one of those changes, she wore Boucheron’s Serpent Bohème Solarité Multi-Design diamond hoops! That was it! Jennifer Lawrence opted for a sculptural Ana Khouri diamond and emerald ear cuff along with a curious Messika emerald and diamond swoop.

Brooches made a strong showing too, especially on Alton Mason, wearing this great Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen’s one-of-a-kind Funky Stars brooch, and Karan Johar was seen wearing at least a dozen brooches, using them as button covers, cuff button covers, collar pins, and … a brooch!

By the final days, the jewelry only got bolder. Aishwarya Rai chose a bib with over 500 carats of pear shape Mozambique rubies. And if that wasn’t bold enough, there was Helen Mirren, who stopped everyone in their tracks with a spectacular Margot McKinney necklace, of large Australian South Seas cultured baroque pearls, and presenting a pendant drop showing off a 241.14-carat and a 109.4-carat green beryl, with a 65.72-carat aquamarine, fitting for a festival where, year after year, the red carpet proves it’s not just about film. It’s also about the jewels!

HELEN MIRREN: What an entrance! Her Margot McKinney necklace wasn’t just jewelry; it was an event:
241.14 and 109.4 carats of green beryl, a 65.72-carat aquamarine, and baroque Australian South Sea pearls
all cascaded in cinematic fashion.
And yes, those green tourmaline and 18–19mm Keshi pearl drop earrings were the perfect supporting cast.”

“EMMA STONE: Emma Stone’s sweet pixie cut was the perfect frame for those Louis Vuitton Seduction earrings,
each set with a striking octagonal-cut emerald—3.77 and 3.57 carats.”

ZHOU YE: Zhou Ye turned heads by skipping the usual diamonds and opting for something far more decadent, pearls, and lots of them.
Her look was anchored by TASAKI’s Harmonie necklace, layered with luminous Akoya pearls,
diamonds, and colored stones, and finished with their Cove earrings.”

KARAN JOHAR: Producer Karan Johar, keeping the brooch game alive and thriving.
Never too much! Manish Malhotra brooches took over:
styled as buttons down the jacket, tipped at the collar, and even stacked on the cuffs.
A maximalist moment we fully support.”

“FINNEGAN OLDFIELD: French-British actor Finnegan Oldfield
hit the Cannes carpet in a 1919 Boucheron barrette brooch,
yellow gold, platinum, sapphires, and diamonds.”

CIARA:  Ciara didn’t come to play; she stacked Messika’s Night Owl and Precious Flow diamond necklaces like a pro,
then threw in a Toi et Moi ring with a heart-shaped pink diamond that had us zooming in.”

CARA DELEVINGNE: Cara showed up dripping in diamonds, emeralds, and rubies from Hassanzadeh Jewellery”

AISHWARYA RAI: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, arrived in a jaw-dropping bib necklace of cascading Mozambique ruby strands,
over 500 carats of them, paired with uncut diamonds, all set in 18k gold.
Topped off with Manish Malhotra’s ruby Renaissance statement rings,
it was a masterclass in red carpet regality.”
